The followings are the general details of working and employment conditions
that a teacher should bear in mind.
- Period of contract
1 year (12 month) renewable contract
- Working hours
120 hours per calendar month, Monday ~Friday (Some schools offer Saturdays classes)
- Salary
2.0~2.6 million KRW per month (depending on your experience and qualifications) Currency conversion
- Overtime payment if needed
20,000 KRW~30,000 KRW per hour.
- Housing
Sponsored private or shared housing (either fully furnished or free)
- Airfare
Free round trip economy class ticket
- Medical assistance
50% of medical insurance cost paid by your employer (Covering the period of employment)
- Severance pay
One month salary pay at the end of 1 year contract.
- Vacation
10 days of paid holiday per year plus all Korean national holiday (13-15 days per year)
- Class size
10 or fewer students per class; 6 - 14 years old, adults
- Free airport pick up service

The above said general details of working and employment conditions might slightly differ according to different schools.
Accommodation
The employer will provide free housing (single or shared accommodation) for the employee. However, it is an employee's responsibility to pay his or hers
utility bills on time.
Airfare
The employer provides an airplane ticket to and from Korea. In the situation where the employee fails to complete the signed full contract term,
the employee needs to reimburse the employer the expenses of the paid airfare. (If you are already within Korea, then a single economy ticket will be
paid on the completion of the contract)
Duties
In addition to class lessons, you will be expected to prepare both materials and lesson plans in advance. You also need to carry out monthly evaluations on
individual student's English improvement. You might be asked for help with preparing school's seasonal activities such as Halloween or Christmas.
Schools have weekly meetings where you should take part to discuss about your classes, curriculum, or issues related to the school and teachers.
Classes
Kindergarten classes are often held in the morning and elementary and middle school classes are done in the afternoon. Each class consists of 6-12
students aged 6-14. There are times when you should share classes with a Korean teacher who helps you communicate well with students, but not
on a regular basis.
Curriculum
You will be given with textbooks and materials relevant to the different class levels. Textbooks include reading comprehension, grammar, pronunciation,
general conversation; giving the idea of daily situational things such as buying a bar of chocolate at a shop and catching a taxi.
Working hours
The majority of schools have 120hrs - teaching programs per month. In general, each class lasts for 40min for one session while some might be 80min
session. Working hours of schools are various from one to the other. Some schools have kindergarten classes in the morning and some don't start until
afternoon, but you are normally expected to work in between the hours of 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
